Award-Winning St. George Attorney
Benjamin Gordon is a Utah defense attorney. He received his BA in English Literature from Westminster College in Salt Lake City in 2003 and his JD from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law in 2006. He was anxious to start getting into the courtroom and was accepted to the University of Denver Criminal Defense Clinic as a third year law student, where he defended clients under the supervision of a professor, and tried his first trial even before graduation. He served an internship with the District Attorney’s Office for the City and County of Denver from 2005-2006. Ben has practiced his entire career in Southern Utah, representing clients in both state and federal courts. In 2010 he started his own practice, Benjamin D. Gordon, PC, and in September of 2013 he was elected by his peers to serve on the Board of Directors of the Utah Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, where he continues to serve today.
In 2016 Ben was excited to merge his practice with Schatz Anderson and Associates. Ben has completed the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) student course for the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFST). He is a proud member of the Utah State Bar, Southern Utah Bar Association, and the Utah Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and he has never received a bar complaint. Ben is highly knowledgeable, whether defending juveniles, defending adults charged with crimes including DUI, drug, and property crimes, or defending parents from over-reach by DCFS.
While Ben’s early career consisted of a general practice including civil litigation and estate planning, his practice now consists of exclusively defense. In fall of 2016 Ben won the prestigious Youth Advocate of the Year award by the Utah Board of Juvenile Justice in recognition of his outstanding work with juvenile defense.
Ben is proud to have qualified for the Boston Marathon with a 2:56:05 at the 2015 St. George Marathon. He is a committed environmentalist and enjoys backpacking in Utah’s National Parks in the summer and Snowboarding in the winter. He is passionate about preserving our constitutional rights and individual liberties.
